You can easily fall in love with Silver Star's fairytale village and awe-inspiring mountains.
You haven't skied Canada until you've skied Silver Star. It has steeps, moguls, groomed runs and wide-open cruisers, all that and a western-style, ski-in/ski-out village, too. Silver Star has a selection of easy-to-ski pistes, and hard runs that help all skiers make the most of their hard earned holidays. It's made up of two distinct ski areas, one for novices and intermediates, the other for expert skiers. Vance Creek is the easier side and is easily accessible from the village's ski-in / ski-out accommodation. Vance Creek's well-groomed, wide-open pistes are ideal for novices and intermediates. Putnam Creek however has an exhilarating array of expert runs that plummet through narrow gullies and exhilarating chutes, there are 11 double black diamond runs, gladed tree skiing runs and serious – serious – mogul runs. The two mountain faces are blanketed with an average annual snowfall of 23 ft; there are 107 runs in total, a 2,493 ft vertical drop and eight lifts at Silver Star.
The charming Victorian-era village offers an array of friendly après ski spots, boutiques and specialty retail shops, all radiating a welcome warmth. This town is a true winter wonderland, brightly coloured store fronts and boarded sidewalks provide a unique ambiance that radiates fun, enthusiasm and excitement for the whole family. Dining options range from casual and comfortable dining room settings to light meals and snack, families are always welcome and prices are good.
Silver Star is well known for its fun-filled activities; skate on the natural outdoor skating pond, race on a tube at Tube Town, join snowmobiling tours or take a sleigh ride, and if you can't get enough of the slopes during the day, try night skiing! You can even enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows by a roaring outdoor bonfire and watch a firework extravaganza. You could spend a week or more at Silver Star without even skiing and never run out of things to do. |
