Jasper

Area: Alberta

Jasper, an unspoiled destination nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountain wilderness,
offers a great skiing and snowboarding holiday in an uncrowded atmosphere.

Skiers love Jasper's Marmot Basin for many reasons. Only 20 minutes from the town of Jasper, set in the breathtaking mountainous landscape of Jasper National Park, you will find the uncrowded mountain slopes of Marmot Basin. Boasting incredible scenery as far as the eye can see, the national park is home to an amazing diversity of life, snowcapped peaks, deep valleys, lakes and forests.

With 84 named trails to explore, on over 1675-acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain, Marmot Basin truly has something for everyone. The terrain is suitably diverse; the lower, gentle, winding slopes through the trees are perfect for learning or perfecting your technique. Higher above the tree line you will find more challenging runs, bowls and chutes, there is also an audacious snowboard park.  Marmot's modern lift system ensures you spend maximum time on your skis and very little time in queues. The resort is easy to get around and allows the freedom to explore the mountain in an uncrowded atmosphere, making this an ideal resort for the whole family and all abilities.

Jasper has managed to preserve a small-town feeling while offering all the services skiers need; rental equipment, group and private ski & snowboard lessons, town site bus service, a unique parking lot that allows you to ski to and from your vehicle and a variety of children's programmes. For the tiny ones, the Little Rascals Nursery offers a fun, relaxing environment with outside playtime for children aged 19 months to 6 years of age. There are three mid-mountain restaurants serving good food, with several outdoor decks for relaxing and soaking up the sun. At the base of the ski area The Caribou Chalet has 2 restaurants and is a favourite spot for an après ski beverage.

In addition to excellent skiing and snowboarding, at Marmot Basin you can experience a wide variety of other winter adventures including heli tours, dog sledding, snowmobling and sleigh rides. After an exhilarating day on the slopes, the town of Jasper offers everything a visitor might want; a variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants, places of natural interest and entertainment.
