Crested Butte

Area: Colorado

Visitors to Crested Butte Ski Resort admire the quaint Victorian mining town aspects, while relishing in the modern amenities of the nearby ski village.

Crested Butte is a historic town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies Elk Mountain Range and
is arguably one of the friendliest, most charming towns in the Rockies, with block after block of
quaint shops, excellent restaurants and exquisite galleries. Big, open and uncrowded, Crested Butte is a great Colorado ski town and a true winter paradise.

Skiers and snowboarders revel on the mountain's thousand plus acres of terrain, ranging from beginner groomers to extreme gladed steeps. Crested Butte has become somewhat associated with the "extreme" scene in the past decade and would-be visitors might not be aware of the mountain's excellent intermediate terrain. Take a peek at the trail map, about 45 percent of the terrain is rated green or blue, it offers some of the best skiing available for every level and style of skier. Whether you want to learn or "go big," Crested Butte has what you're looking for.  Fourteen chair lifts service 2,700 feet of vertical relief. The hot spot for park riders it the Teocalli Halfpipe and Terrain Park, an advanced park that is open for skiers, snowboarders and snowskaters. There's also a jib park on lower Keystone and a kid's terrain park at the top of the Painterboy.

Feel like taking a day off from the slopes? No problem, make the most of your holiday, there are lots of ways to enjoy the serene beauty of Crested Butte, including picturesque horseback rides, exhilarating snowmobile adventures and first-class ice-skating. Winter fun includes Nordic skiing, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, dog sledding and more.

After a busy day on the majestic slopes of Crested Butte Ski Resort, you can recharge at the scores of charming bakeries, and dazzling gourmet restaurants. There are five bars or
restaurants on the mountain, another eight in Mt. Crested Butte, the resort's "village," and 28
three miles away in Crested Butte. A must do is Dinner at 10,000 ft; Ride in an open sleigh
pulled by a snowcat to the back side of the mountain, and dine on a 4-course dinner at Andiamo Italian Restaurant in Paradise Warming House.

Crested Butte is known for its historic town, fun & excitement, and the resort's "Extreme Limits"
terrain offering some of the best extreme skiing in the world. It may be harder to get to than
those other resorts but worth the trouble because once here, a visitor really has a sense of  "having gotten away from it all."
